Our habitat – the air

The air is the habitat in which man exists and breathes. The air surrounds us permanently, and we breathe it in unconsciously. It is not only a vital necessity, but also an inseparable link between us and the environment.

Airspace is more than just the absence of matter; it is the surrounding habitat that provides us with energy and furnishes us with the basis for life and well-being. Appreciating and caring for this invisible but vital space is essential for our vitality.

A person can usually go several weeks without food and a few days without water. But without air, especially oxygen, a person can usually only survive for a few minutes.

Air outside and inside

The interest in clean air is growing worldwide, with the current focus often being on the air outside. However, humans spend most of their time indoors. Here, various factors, such as solvents and particulate matter, influence the air quality.

The assumption that we are protected from polluted air when at home or in the office turns out to be deceptive. We need to take care of air quality in places like schools and offices and at home. There is a reason for this: the quality of the air we breathe affects many processes in our bodies. Clean breathing air is indispensable for us humans.

Allergens in your home

In spring and summer, numerous types of pollen enter the atmosphere as flowers and plants are in full bloom at this time. This pollen can make its way indoors through open windows, or even via our clothes. The skin particles, hair and saliva of pets are made up of proteins and can trigger allergies. They easily adhere to objects in the home or float in the air.

Movement stirs up dust in your home, which, in addition to pollen, can also contain bacteria, mould spores and flakes of dead skin. House dust can remain in the air for up to 30 minutes.

Air is the invisible essence of life. It reminds us that freedom often lies in the things we can't see but which still envelop every moment of our being.

Air, health and prevention:

Clean breathing air is not only a luxury, but a crucial prerequisite for maintaining our health.

  • Contaminated air can lead to respiratory problems, such as asthma, bronchitis, and other respiratory infections. Harmful particles and allergens should be filtered out of the air, which is especially crucial for people with breathing problems.
  • Allergens like pollen, pet hair, and mould spores can float in the air and cause allergic reactions. Purified air significantly minimises the risk of allergens.
  • Air purifiers with antibacterial or antiviral filters can help minimise the spread of disease in enclosed spaces. This is especially important in times of flu waves.
  • Long-term exposure to polluted air can lead to chronic health problems, such as heart disease or lung problems. Preventive measures should be taken here.

Psychological effects and well-being:

Clean breathing air also has a huge impact on our perceived well-being.

  • Fresh air promotes the supply of oxygen to the brain, which can have a positive effect on concentration and productivity. A real win, especially in office and work environments, as well as schools.
  • Sleeping in clean air improves sleep quality. Potential confounding factors, like allergens and odours, that can interfere with sleep should be neutralised.
  • Fresh air and pleasant scents have been shown to have positive effects on mood and overall well-being. Clean air can create an atmosphere that contributes to mental relaxation.
  • Clean air can reduce stress and promote relaxation. This is especially important in living and working environments, in order to create a pleasant ambience.

Air, odours and the limbic system

The fragrance of a room is transported via the air and is essential for our feeling of our home. Because our sense of smell also determines how we perceive our environment. Just like feelings, smells are processed in our brain's limbic system. It works like this:

Substances that cause odours emit molecules into the air. The perception of odours, also known as olfaction, begins with the inhalation of air containing these scent molecules. The olfactory mucosa, which is furnished with olfactory cells, is located in the nasal cavity. When olfactory molecules bind to these cells, they trigger electrical signals that travel via the olfactory nerve to the olfactory bulb, which is part of the brain.

In the olfactory bulb, the electrical signals are processed and converted into specific patterns that the brain can interpret. The interpreted signals are eventually relayed to higher brain regions, especially the limbic area, which is responsible for emotions and memories. This explains why smells are often associated with emotions and memories. So, there are no emotionless smells.

The limbic system is a complex structure in the brain that plays a key role in regulating emotions, memory, and the autonomic nervous system. Fresh breathing air and smells are therefore closely linked. The smell of our house or apartment affects our daily life. Our home is a place of well-being, a retreat and a place where we can recharge our batteries. That's why it should also smell like a wonderful home.

Immerse yourself in the world of fragrances

With the right smell in your nose, lots of things should simply be easier. In principle, it is advisable to use only one fragrance per room.

Citrus notes are particularly suitable for the kitchen. The kitchen is usually filled with lots of different cooking odours. A citrus note is best able to prevail against these. The freshness of orange or lemon is ideal here.

Does your home also have a small office, a space for working from home, or a creative room and study? Fragrances such as mint can boost concentration and awaken the mind, while citrus notes create a tangy and fresh, fruity scent, boosting our creativity.

It should be something relaxing for the bedroom, right? Many people have long been aware of the relaxing and sleep-promoting effects of lavender. The fragrance is also supposed to help with stress and have a calming effect. Cedar wood is said to have a warming and harmonising effect.

Use the OptimizAir aroma box and add fragrance your home.

Vitalises electrosmog*

The intention is for specially developed information codes to be brought into harmony with the natural organism so that the body learns to defy the influences of electrosmog.

*By vitalisation we mean the provision of information that surrounds our organism and that ought to be available as a field of resonance if necessary (i.e., in the case of slight dissonances in a system or on a level). It is therefore a matter of bringing certain frequency patterns into harmony with the natural organism and thus supporting one's own resilience (self-regulation).
